Billions of plastic bags are consumed each year. Less than 1% of plastic bags are recycled. The rest of the bags end up in landfills, lakes and rivers, pollute our land. Plastic bags are responsible for the deaths of thousands of marine animals and nearly 7% of the debris found along the U.S. coastline. The main reason is that consumers have not yet developed the habit of using reusable bags. The second reason was higher as consumers do not use bags with the logo of a particular store.
