I have been together an emergency kit for me and my dog. (Blankets extra food, management, emergency supplies, etc.) But I read somewhere online that if the Red Cross has to set up an emergency shelter in a crisis, no dogs allowed. How I can know now where my dog and I could go in case of an emergency, you do not have to wait until one happens? The online article said to try the vet or a friends house, but what if I can not get to those places? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you. Probably should specify the type of emergency that I am talking about something like an earthquake ... so when the hotels and veterinary offices, etc. are not safe to enter, and a shelter is the only option, how would I know which one I take my dog?
http://www.petfriendlytravel.com/pet_shelters if it was me who had to take my cat with me, and if the house would not let him in then I would go elsewhere. but do not leave them at home.

What does it take to convince residents of the Gulf Coast prepare for the next hurricane?
A study of Harvard published in the U.S. Today there are two thirds of the residents of the Gulf Coast have not planned where his family will regroup after the evacuation. 75 percent of respondents said they believe their household (including trailer homes) can withstand winds of 130 kilometers per hour. 14 percent of residents New Orleans say they will evacuate. Florida is the state that only the Gulf Coast hurricanes have learned from before the implementation of improved building standards dissiminating successful and preparedness information. http://www.usatoday.com/weather/hurricane/2007-07-24-hurricane-poll_N.htm?csp=34
I think you have answered his own question there. People are what they are going to take the next hurricane. People are funny. They are more concerned about the looting and lack a day's work to have a tree of plowing through the front window and on the sofa they are sitting. Better education will help motivate some people to prepare better, but not enough to make a difference. Humans are designed to not accept the idea of being forced to flee their homes.
Well I have a question about the waves of the tsunami … Question: Compare the number of hours we already know that a tsunami will hit with the number of hours takes to evacuate cities along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of the United States. Is there an evacuation plan to be effective on either coast? Explain. Okay i def get an answer to the first portion of the answer, but do not know anyone what the difference would be when the question concerns the different coasts (Atlantic and Pacific). I really do not know what to say to it. I agree that it would be a better question – but I must respond to what my professor asked. I have only no idea what he answers you are seeking. as it is a much more populous coast than the other?
In fact, for all practical purposes, if you can get a quarter of a mile inland, they are safe from a tsunami. This is not how entire cities to be evacuated, just spread the word and most people can walk a quarter mile inland. Tsunami Warning times vary widely, but for the most part there should be plenty of time to get people move. The other problem is that people take seriously the warning that usually warming is a hoax. That's why in 1964 Crescent tsunami killed people City: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/01/0121_050121_1964_tsunami.html
