wilderness survival skills

Before venturing into the wilderness to prepare for the unexpected.

* Get avalanche certified and carry a shovel of avalanches, in Beacon and Probe if you are a winter enthusiast of the voyage!
* Take a first aid course since accidents do occur.
* Always carry a survival kit.

For the general enthusiast, basic survival skills are included here to initiate an understanding of what should happen in a wildlife emergency. Note that you must remain calm when implementing these survival skills. A clear head will allow you to implement and plan for survival and rescue.

1. FIRE. It can provide heat, predators, purify water, cook food and signal rescuers. The best source for a fire is: a party of metal and stone with a wooden handle and a scraper, because the cotton balls soaked in petroleum use tinder and stored in waterproof containers. Sort your firewood in the form of hut and place your emergency blanket behind you to reflect heat.
2. SHELTER – a commercial trash bag with a hole cut for his head is useful to protect you elements. Always keep the closest to your body dry to the isolation of the elements. If you are stranded, find a quick natural shelter and wrap yourself in a blanket emergency.
3. Signaling with a whistle and a mirror. A whistle can carry further than a yell and a mirror can reflect up to 20 miles. A triangle of fires is a distress signal. Create smoke during the day to show distress. Spell out SOS with organic materials.
4. Food / water. A person can survive up to three days without water and food up to three weeks, but no plan for it. Always pack extra food bars high in carbohydrates. Drink water in the cool night. They capture the rainwater in your emergency blanket. Never drink your urine. Boil water for 10 minutes minimum if you can. Search water at all times.
5. FIRST AID. Always carry base.

NOTE: as an essential survival skill, consult a topographic map comprehension

We are talking about killing devices to hunt and protect themselves. When you are gone from the electricity and all current technologies, people have to use some primitive techniques to survive.

KILLING DEVICES
There are several devices of death can be built to help you obtain small game to help him survive.
The rabbit stick, spear, bow and arrow, and the sling are such devices.

RABBIT STICK
One of the simplest and most effective killing devices is a stout stick as your arm from fingertip to shoulder, called a "rabbit stick." You can either throw up or sidearm and with considerable force. The best is launched so that flies sideways, increasing the likelihood of hitting the target. It is very effective against small game that stops and freezes as a defense.

SPEAR
You can make a spear to kill small animals and fish. Jab with the spear, not throwing.

BOW AND ARROW
You can build an adequate short-term bond quite easily. When it loses its elasticity or is broken, you can replace it.

1. Select a hardwood stick around 1 meter (3 feet) long that is free of knots or limbs. Carefully scrape the large end down until it has the same pull that the small end. Careful examination will show the natural curve of the stick. Always scrape from the side facing you, or the bow will break the first time you pull it. Dead, dry wood is preferable to green wood.
2. To increase traction, an arch Lash second to first, off the front, forming an "X" when viewed from the side. Place the tips of arcs with ropes and using only a rope in an arc.
3. Select the arrows on the straight twigs available. The arrows should be about half, while the bow. Scrape each shaft smooth all around. You probably have to straighten the shaft.
You can bend an arrow by the heat the shaft over hot coals. Do not allow the axis of burn or fire. Hold the shaft straight until it cools. You can make arrowheads from bone, glass, metal, or pieces of rock. You can also sharpen and fire-se harden the shaft. The tightening of fire is actually a misnomer. To harden wood, hold it over hot coals or sink into the depths of coal the ashes, taking care not to burn or scorch the wood. The purpose of hardening the fire is to harden the wood by drying the moisture out of it.
4. You must notch the ends of the arrows on the bowstring.
Cut or file the notch, not divide. Fletching (adding feathers to the notched end of an arrow) improves flight characteristics of the arrow. Fletching is recommended but not necessary in a field appropriate arrow.

HONDA
You can make a sling by tying two pieces of string, each about 60 centimeters (24 inches) long, at opposite ends of a piece of leather or cloth palmsized. Place a rock in the wrapper cloth and a cord around your middle finger and hold in your palm. Keep the other cable between the forefinger and thumb. To launch the stone, spin the sling several times in a circle and release the cable between your thumb and forefinger. Practice to gain proficiency.
The sling is very effective weapon for survival against hunting.
